My Story
Ectopic pregnancy is a common, sometimes life-threatening condition that affects around 1 in 80 pregnancies. Put simply, it means a pregnancy developing outside the womb.
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust (EPT) is the leading charity dedicated to ectopic pregnancy, providing trusted information, guidance, and support for those affected — as well as their partners and families — during an incredibly uncertain and frightening time.
On 4th January, I required emergency surgery where a left tubal ectopic pregnancy was identified and my left fallopian tube was removed. During the operation, it was found that the tube had partially ruptured, and I was advised that if this had been left any longer, the situation could have been life-threatening.
One of the hardest parts of this experience was how subtle it all was. I didn’t have dramatic warning signs or severe pain — just a sense that something wasn’t quite right. It’s a reminder of how easily ectopic pregnancies can be missed, and how important early assessment and ongoing support really are.
To raise funds for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, on the 19 th September 2026, my husband and I are taking on an huge 80km running challenge together.
We chose this because (slightly inconveniently) we both love running — and because moving forward, literally, feels like the right thing to do. This isn’t about pace, medals, or proving anything. It’s about doing something positive with a very difficult situation, and supporting a charity that provides clear information and reassurance when it’s needed most.
We’d love others to get involved too. You can join us for as little or as much of the route as you like, walk sections, run a few kilometres, or take part in your own way. And if you fancy running all 80km… we admire your enthusiasm (and question your judgement).
Any support — whether that’s donating, sharing, or simply reading — genuinely means a lot. Every penny helps the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust continue their vital work- supporting people through diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and the weeks and months to follow.
Thank you so much for supporting us and helping raise awareness of ectopic pregnancy.
